Combined heat and power (CHP) plant of 5.7 MW capacity “BE-TO Karlovac” located in Ilovac, city suburb of Karlovac, has launched commercial operation.
After BE-TO Glina, this is the second power plant of the same capacity that Đuro Đaković TEP delivered to the investor Sherif Group on a turnkey basis (EPC), and the 7th wood biomass cogeneration plant that ĐĐ TEP has designed, produced and built in Croatia in the last 5 years.
In addition to the production and delivery of electricity to the power grid, the power plant in Karlovac also produces thermal energy with the capacity of 10 MW. The owner will use the thermal energy within the plants and for the production of pellets and drying of wooden products.
The Karlovac power plant will burn over 76,000 tons of wood biomass, produce and deliver 40 GWh of electricity and 80 GWh of heat annually. The biomass boiler and all supplementary pressure and non-pressure equipment was designed and manufactured in Đuro Đaković TEP in Slavonski Brod.
Đuro Đaković TEP is nearing the end of the construction of two more wood biomass power plants on a turnkey basis (EPC), in Brinje and Gospić, both with similar capacities as Karlovac,
and they will be put into operation in the first half of 2021.
